PITTSBURGH, Penn. -- In the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting, sporting goods chain Dick's Sporting Goods released a statement Tuesday saying that they will be suspending the sale of certain semi-automatic rifles.
Dick's also said that they will be removing all guns from display at its location closest to Newtown, Connecticut, where Friday's shooting took place.
The chain says they have made their decision out of respect for the victims' families.
Dick's has more than 500 stores in 44 states, including a location in Peoria.
It is unknown how long the suspension of rifle sales will take place.
