DIXON, Ill. -- The city of Dixon will get back about $40 million of the $53 million former bookkeeper Rita Crundwell stole over two decades.

The city is getting the money in a settlement with a bank and an auditor it accused of not doing enough to expose Crundwell's scheme.

Dixon also is recouping about $10 million by selling off Crundwell's belongings. However, that amount is offset by some $10 million in legal bills and other costs.
