PEORIA, Ill. -- Dog attacks in Peoria have officials looking to change the rules that dog owners must follow.

This week the city is hosting two public forums on proposed changes to dog ownership.

Under consideration is the creation of a "reckless dog owner" designation.

Under the ordinance, a person can be labeled a reckless dog owner if he or she violates animal control ordinances three or more times in three years.

Another possible change says all dogs must be confined to property by some sort of fence or tethered on a leash while under supervision.

The first meeting will be held October 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lakeview Room of the Lakeview Public Library.

The second meeting will be held on October 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the community room at Neighborhood House.
