PEORIA COUNTY -- The driver of a freight liner was unhurt after the truck he was driving burst into flames on Interstate 474 Thursday morning.

The truck is a rental that was being used by X Waste Disposal out of Pekin.

The driver, who did not want to be identified, said he was driving on the I-474 near Airport Road around 9 a.m. Thursday when the cab of his truck filled with smoke.

He pulled over and jumped out before the engine and cab went up in flames.

He said the truck was empty and had no previous problems.
