MONMOUTH, Ill. – An early morning fire at a Monmouth College dorm displaced two students.

The fire happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday in Liedman Hall.

School administrators said the fire was contained to one room thanks to the building's sprinkler system.

"The two students who were displaced they have a new room, they've gotten new bedding and some temporary clothing and that sort of thing,” said Jeff Rankin, Director of Communications at Monmouth College. “We're trying to take care of them as best we can."

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal.
