PEORIA, Ill. -- One of two men arrested in New Mexico and wanted in the murder of an East Peoria Man is now behind bars in a Central Illinois jail.
20-year-old Carlton Neely of Peoria faces first degree murder charges for the June 13th shooting death of Justin Seibenthal. East Peoria authorities say the murder was the result of a drug deal turned robbery.
Neely is alleged to have fled with co-defendant James Johnson to New Mexico, where the two were found at a truck stop 10 days later. Neely is being held on $3 million bond at the Tazewell County Justice Center.
He's scheduled to be back in court on August 23rd. Tazewell County prosecutors expect Johnson back in the area sometime this week.
