DENVER, CO.-- A Senior Airman from El Paso, Illinois is dead after his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle near Denver.

Authorities say 23 year old Senior Airman Michael Snyder was driving Wednesday night when he was hit in an intersection by either a van or an SUV.

Denver police say the vehicle's driver, 32 year old William Pettapiece drover off. He was followed by witnesses who then called police.

Pettapiece is being held without bond on charges of suspicion of vehicular homicide, hit and run, and leaving the scene of a crash. He is scheduled to be in court Friday.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

The victim, Michael Snyder, was serving at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado.
