Elderly woman dies in two-vehicle accident

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- An elderly woman is dead after a two car crash in Monmouth.

The accident happened on US Highway 67 near the intersection of 185th Avenue around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in Warren County.

According to authorities, Charles Seward was driving on 185th Avenue, when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

A second car, driven by Keith Pilkington of Knoxville, hit Seward's car.

The passenger, 78-year-old Betty Seward, was ejected and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Charles Seward was taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. He is charged with failure to yield.
