Emergency insurance contracts extended for another year

SPRINGFIELD, Ill -- Illinois has extended the emergency health insurance contracts currently in place for state employees.

Those temporary contracts with Health Alliance, HealthLink and Personal Care are now effective until June of next year, or until the new procurement process is complete.

This is the second extension of the emergency contracts enacted in June of 2011.

The problem started when the Governor's office picked insurance companies that did not serve all of Illinois.
