EUREKA, Ill -- Eureka residents saw a strange sight moving slowly through their town Wednesday.
A house was moved from Darst Street out to a new location in the country.
Patty Jones bought the house after hearing it was set to be torn down to build a new parking lot.
The house belonged to the Eureka hospital who used it for many years as a health department.
Jones says moving a home costs between $50,000 and $60,000, and is much cheaper than building from scratch.
"A stick home will run you, even just a homeaway home, I checked this out. It would run you at least $120,000 - $175,000 for a three bedroom home with a full basement," Jones said.
Jones says her and her husband are planning to rent the house. They are hoping to have a new family in the home in about a month.
