PEORIA, Ill.-- Making connections was the key of Tuesday’s Small Business & Entrepreneur Resource Expo at Peoria Next.

Local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs connected with representatives from more than 20 agencies and organizations.

The goal is for the small business owners to meet other small businesses and to get resources that can help their business be successful.

"They are critical to our economy,” said Organizer Tony Rolando. “As we all know, small business, it's the largest employer in the country and the more small businesses we can create the more people in Illinois are employed and that's the whole role of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, is to find living wage jobs for the people of the State of Illinois."

Organizers said most small businesses fail due to the lack of resources.

They said events like this one enhance the chance for success.
