PALO ALTO, Calif. -- For a short time on Thursday, a Facebook redirect bug made millions of the web's most popular websites inaccessible.

An issue with Facebook's Connect service, which controls features of the social network, would redirect people logged into Facebook to an error message.

The bug made sites such as NBC News, the Gawker Network and CNN inaccessible.

Facebook said in a statement that the issue was quickly resolved, but some areas were reporting issues with the service lasted up to a hour.

NBC News' report on the bug can be read HERE.
