PEORIA, Ill. -- A local law enforcement agency hopes to arm seniors with ammunition to protect themselves against fraud and other crimes.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Department hosted a senior fair at the ITOO Hall on Wednesday.

Representatives from several agencies were there with information about health screenings, fraud protection, and home safety.

"So many different things change throughout the years especially like with technology, scams, frauds, there's so many different computer things that happen. We need to bring awareness to that," said Aimee Shinall of the Peoria County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's department runs the Triad program for senior citizens.

It focuses on reducing crime, and raising protection awareness among seniors.
