CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that famous film critic Roger Ebert has died after his struggle with cancer. Ebert was 70-years-old.
The University of Illinois alumni has been a professional critic since the mid-sixties.
He is most famous for being a part of the television show "At the Movies", paired with fellow critic Gene Siskel. Siskel died in 1999. Ebert continued the show with Richard Roeper until 2008.
Ebert was first diagnosed with cancer in 2002. He underwent surgery in 2006 that led to part of his jawbone having to be removed. He lost his ability to speak and eat or drink.
