DELAVAN, Ill. -- The small town of Delavan is one step closer to being the home of the heart of Illinois' newest distillery.
Crews were on site at the future home of Mathers' Distillery on Locust Street on Wednesday to deliver the still that will be used to make vodka, gin and rye whiskey when the business opens this upcoming spring.
Owner Tom Mathers says the still came all the way from Germany and getting it here has been quite a process.
"It's been a long time coming and I'm happy after a year after ordering this that it's finally here and is finally coming to fruition," said Tom Mathers.
The Mathers family is no stranger to business in Delavan as they are the owners of the Harvest Café and Hometown Wine and Spirits.
Mathers says the distillery was a natural addition as the family also plans to open a bar in the near future.
