A Bloomington man is dead tonight after an early morning accident near Covell in rural McLean County.
The McLean County Coroner says 49-year-old Michael W. Cruser was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:30 am. Coroner Beth Kimmerling says preliminary evidence indicates Cruser was traveling northbound on Covell Road when he lost control of his vehicle, over-corrected, and then traveled down a west embankment into a group of trees.
Kimmerling says he was the only person in the car, and he was wearing a seatbelt. His autopsy earlier today indicates he died of head and neck injuries.
Toxicology tests have been ordered.
