ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Authorities say a fatal boating accident has taken the life of a central Illinois man.
Authorities say the victim, a resident of Canton, died early Saturday morning on the Mississippi River near Rock Island.
The Rock Island County Coroner says Tom Trainer was one of seven people aboard a smaller row boat, on a duck hunting trip.
A friend of Trainer says the hunters were on a 24-foot plate boat with a 12 person capacity.
The group was heading towards a duck blind, when it hit a bouy, sending several people into the water.
Trainer and another passenger were later pronounced dead. The causes of those deaths remain unknown at this time.
Autopsies are set for Monday.
Five others were taken to an Iowa City Hospital in serious condition.
The accident is under investigation.
