PEKIN, Ill. -- A longtime local restaurant and Pekin favorite re-opened Monday under new ownership.

Jimbo's Jumbo, located on 8th street in Pekin, has been around for decades but closed when the previous owners went bankrupt.

The new owners have been working for more than a year to get the restaurant up and running again, and Monday was the day they've been waiting for.

They say customers have been coming in non-stop, wanting the same food they grew up with.

"The showing today of the support from the community just tells us how important that it is to have a good home cooked sandwich and people are waiting and bless them, they're being so patient but they're waiting for a good quality cooked food," said new owner Tracy Lohman.

The new owners say they hope the excitement surrounding the sandwich shop keeps up, allowing them to grow their business.
