The power grid in Princeton will be getting a face lift, in hopes of saving residents money.

Princeton's electric department is receiving a $700,000 federal grant for new Smart Grid technology; a two-way communication network that allows consumers to regulate their energy usage.

It is expected to help reduce costs for 3700 residents along with 600 businesses.

Princeton's City Manager says more than 2700 additional dollars were given to replace 80 streetlights.

That will save the city up to 59 percent on energy costs and 80 percent on maintenance.
