PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. -- Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed several buildings in the small town of Prophetstown, Illinois.

The fire broke out in Prophetstown around 2 a.m. Monday.

Authorities in Whiteside County arrested two males ages 12 and 16. The boys were transported to a juvenile detention facility in
Galesburg just after midnight Tuesday. No formal charges have been filed at this time.

The fire started in a restaurant and spread to nearby buildings. In all, about six buildings are believed to be a total loss and at least two others suffered heavy smoke damage.

A boil order has been issued for residents due to the low water levels after fighting the fire.

Farmers and other businesses in the area came to the scene overnight with their own water to help fire crews with the massive fire.
