BLOOMINGTON, Ill -- A Friday morning fire has left 10 adults and four children without a home just days before Christmas.
Bloomington Firefighters responded to a blaze at this apartment complex at 1412 Croxton Avenue just after 11 am.
When crews arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the building. Off duty firefighters and additional crews from Normal were called in to help fight the blaze.
Crews searched the building and found a dog that was crated in one of the apartments.
Firefighters were able to save the dog and reunite it with its owner. Authorities say all six apartments in the complex are uninhabitable.
The American Red Cross is helping to provide assistance to the displaced families. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
