Firefighter injured in Peoria house fire

PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire that injured a firefighter.

Crews responded to 2204 Butler just before 11 p.m. Thursday night to find heavy smoke coming from the upstairs windows of the two-story house.

They were able to get the fire under control by 11:20 p.m. but one firefighter was injured. He was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center and later released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $75,000.
