WASHINGTON, Ill. -- Friday's cold weather presented a challenge for firefighters in Washington.

Fire crews from the northern Tazewell Fire Protection District were called to a house fire at 2267 Knollaire Friday morning.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from a fire in the attic.

Mutual aid was requested from East Peoria and Washington.

The fire was contained to the attic but the main floor of the house did sustain water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The damage estimate and cause of the fire remain unknown.
