PEORIA, Ill -- Police are searching for a man who fired a buckshot round from a pistol into a group of people, hitting five victims on the 2500 block of W. Garden St. Sunday morning.
Police responded to the scene and the victims were treated, all five of which had non life threatening injuries. A couple of the victims thought they were hit with a pellet or BB gun instead of a handgun. However, witnesses saw muzzle flash from the weapon.
Police spoke to one of the victims who said the suspect, Tyree Thomas, 22, arrived at the address with his brother and the father of her child. She said that Thomas and his brother got into a fight with a couple of other people at the residence and left the scene shortly there after.
Thomas allegedly returned to the scene a short while later and fired a handgun at the crowd from across the street. The weapon appeared to be loaded with birdshot or buckshot when fired.
Authorities are currently searching for Thomas.
