ILLINOIS -- Three state prisons are on lock down after inmates started exhibiting signs of the flu.

Health Care Staff says while there are only 3 confirmed cases of the virus, nearly 3 dozen inmates are being treated for symptoms consistent with the flu.

The locked down prisons are Lincoln, Illinois River, and Graham.

Flu activity is widespread in Illinois right now.

And health officials are urging all residents to get their flu shot and take precautions.

That includes practicing the 3 C's:
Cleaning your hands frequently.
Covering your cough and sneeze,
And containing your germs by staying at home if you are sick.
