DETROIT, Mich. -- Ford says it has a fix to prevent potential engine fires in thousands of recently recalled vehicles.
Ten days ago, Ford recalled nearly 90,000 of its 2013 model Fusion sedans and Escape Crossovers equipped with 1.6 liter ecoboost engines.
The engine can overheat, causing fluids to leak onto parts and potentially cause a fire.
Ford now says it has a software update that will better manage the vehicles' engine operations.
The company has advised owners not to drive their vehicles until dealers can make the necessary repair.
