A long-time former Illinois Supreme Court Justice passed away Saturday after a brief illness.
Justice Mary Ann McMorrow was known as a pioneer for opening doors for women in law.
She was the first woman to serve on the Illinois Supreme Court, and the first woman to head a branch of Illinois government when she served as chief justice until she retired in 2005.
Her colleagues say she was known for her elegance, grace, and style in her legal career. Mary Ann McMorrow was 83 years old.
