PEORIA, Ill. -- The former City of Peoria Inspections Director, John Kunski, has announced his plans to run for 4th District Councilman next Spring.

Kunski retired from his Inspections Director job last December after 22 years in the position.

Kunski says his experience makes him the right candidate for councilman.

"We work closely with all the neighborhood and in building inspection with all the commercial development so I'm very familiar with the processes and stuff. I know they are big shoes to fill but hopefully I can do that," said Kunski.

Peoria's current 4th district city councilman is Bill Spears.

Earlier this month, Spears announced he will not be seeking another term as councilman after 16 years in the seat.
