PEORIA, Ill. -- A former Peoria Fire Captain has been sentenced to prison for the sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl.
Sixty-five-year-old Robert Kneer was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison.
Judge Steve Kouri handed down the sentence under an agreement reached in July.
Kneer pleaded guilty to assaulting the 5-year-old girl, but published reports say he plans to file a motion to withdraw his plea.
In a videotaped confession to detectives shown in court, Kneer said he engaged in more than six incidents of sexual conduct with the girl.
