ELGIN, Ill. -- Former State Representative Keith Farnam of Elgin was charged Monday with two counts of child pornography.

The 66 year-old Farnam resigned from the General Assembly in March, one day after he won his election in the Democratic primary.

He cited "health reasons" for his sudden departure.

In a 16-page criminal complaint, Farnam is accused of not only possessing and trading child pornography, but of boasting in an email that he had abused a six-year-old girl, and that teenaged girls were too old for him.

He is expected to appear in court in Chicago on Wednesday.

He faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
