Fulton County crash sends two to the hospital

FULTON COUNTY, Ill. -- Authorities in Fulton County are investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital.

According to a release from the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, at 8:17 a.m. Saturday, Fulton County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a crash on IL Route 9 near Elliott Rd. (west of Canton).

Preliminary dispatch information indicated the crash involved two vehicles with entrapment and one vehicle was on fire.

Authorities said Daniel L. Williams, 32, of Canton, was traveling eastbound on Route 9 when his car crossed into the westbound lane and struck a pickup truck head on.

The truck caught fire but the driver, Ronald J. Delost , 69, of Cuba, was able to escape with his dog.

Rescue personnel were able to free Williams from his car. He was lifeflighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria in serious condition.

Delost was transported to Graham Hospital and later lifeflighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He is in fair condition.

Deputies issued Williams a citation for driving in the wrong lane and driving on a revoked license. He is scheduled to appear in court September 13.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the crash.
