PEORIA, Ill -- Officials with Canucks Sports and Entertainment are in Peoria Tuesday to discuss the future of the Rivermen Hockey team.

The American Hockey League Board of Governors approved the sale of the Peoria Rivermen to the Vancouver Canucks last Friday.

In a statement Tuesday, officials said that "no determination has been made relative to the operation of the franchise for the 2013 - 2014 season."

Civic Center Center officials and Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis met with the Canucks officials. Ardis says their visit is promising.

"You know they are very uncertain what they are going to do with the team this year," said Ardis. "They don't necessarily have a place for them to play, but they are trying to determine if it is feasible to be in Peoria next year."

Mayor Ardis says the Canucks plan to decide if and where the Rivermen will play by mid next month.
