Galesburg collision sends 6 to the hospital

GALESBURG, Ill. -- Illinois State Police are investigating a head on collision in Galesburg that sent six people to the hospital.

According to our news partners at 1470, police said an SUV struck a van head on, just before 11:00 AM Saturday morning.

They said the accident happened on I-74 at the US Route 34 interchange.

There were six victims in the van. They were Tony Nepolello of Dunlap, driver, 45, Carol Nepolello of Dunlap, 46, Josh Nepolello of Dunlap, 14, Adam Nepolello of Dunlap, 10, Ralph Burke of Mt. Auburn, 71, and Molly Dawson of Arcola, 13.

Burke was treated at St. Mary’s for head injury, collapsed lung, broken ribs. He was later transferred to OSF St. Francis due to perforations of his intestine.

Driver of SUV, male, 72, treated at Galesburg Cottage.
