ILLINOIS -- Gas prices likely will not be the reason most motorists stay home this 4th of July week.

The average price at the pump in Illinois is finally dropping. Illinois drivers are currently paying between $3.25 and $3.75 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

These are the lowest prices since the middle of April.

In June, gas prices averaged $4.05 in the state, up 34 cents from a year ago.

According to AAA Chicago, the refinery issues that pushed prices higher this spring have been resolved.
