Gas prices rise nearly eight cents over last week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Average retail gasoline prices in Peoria have risen 7.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.34 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy.com.

This compares with the national average that has increased 4.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.31 per gallon.

Including the change in gas prices in Peoria during the past week, prices Sunday were 0.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day in 2012 and are 7.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 4.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 6.7 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago.
