PEORIA, Ill. -- As average prices have fallen in the Peoria area during the past week, gasoline analysts say the trend will likely continue through the end of the year.
Average retail prices in Peoria currently stand at $3.40 per gallon while the national average comes out to $3.39 per gallon.
"While the national average continues to fall, we've done the math--the yearly average in 2012 is all but guaranteed to set all-time record highs," said Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "In the meantime, we have lowered our forecast for Christmas gasoline prices to average between $3.25 and $3.35 per gallon."
