SPRINGFIELD, Ill -- Senate Bill 10 is awaiting a vote in the House, a vote that Speaker Michael Madigan says would not pass.
In an interview Wednesday with the Chicago Tribune, the Madigan said the bill only has 48 of the 60 votes needed to advance. The bill's sponsor, Democrat Greg Harris, says he will not call the measure for vote this week.
The Illinois gay marriage bill passed in the senate last month, and Governor Quinn has said he would sign it into law if it reaches his desk.
