GERMANTOWN HILLS, Ill. -- The ousted village clerk in Germantown Hills is now back in her position.

Thursday night, the village board voted to remove Tim Neubeck as village clerk and re-instate Ann Sasso.

After 20 years, Sasso was fired from the position in November 2012 by the previous board, citing dishonesty and failure to keep accurate minutes.

Neubeck took over in January.

The board who made Thursday's decision was elected in April.

Neubeck's last day was Friday, July 19 and said he was given a section of the municipal code as reason for his removal.

"When you noticed there was no reasons, it's because I did my job. I did my job well," he said. "I think I can do my job better than most anybody else. It's not that they didn't want me here, they wanted someone else."

"I'm just glad this unfortunate time in my life is over," said Sasso. "It was strange when you do something for a long time and then all of a sudden it's taken away. It's an adjustment. So yeah, I'm just ready to get back into the routine."

Sasso's first day back will be Monday, July 29.
