In an effort to bring attention to the positive influences of the Peoria community, Representative Jehan Gordon says she's launching a new initiative for local businesses.
The "Good Neighbor" Business of the Month award will be handed out monthly to a non-profit establishment that has gone above and beyond.
Gordon says this is a great way to recognize the organization's hard work.
"Our communities are fortunate to have active non-profit organizations working to improve the lives of local residents, but much of this wouldn't be possible without our outstanding business," said Gordon. "These businesses give to a wide variety of charitable organizations by offering to sponsor events, by providing volunteers, and by donating goods and services."
Nominations for the award will be accepted on a regular basis.
