$16 million verdict for families of grain bin workers

CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. -- A record-setting verdict was reached in Carroll County Thursday. $16 million for the families of two grain bin workers killed in a 2010 accident.

14-year-old Wyatt Whitebread and 19-year-old Alejandro Pacas both died from suffocation after becoming trapped in corn more than 30 feet deep.

A Carroll County Jury decided today that both families will get $8 million a piece from Consolidated Grain and Barge, the company the boys were working at the time of the incident.

A third, surviving worker was awarded $875,000.
