EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- A local organization reached a milestone Saturday as volunteer-builders raised the wall of their 100th home.

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Peoria Area is in the second week of working on their 100th build.

The Habitat partner family that is expected to move into the home by Christmas is Laura Beneventi and her two daughters Isabella and Laila.

Beneventi has been working with the program for the last two years and said she is excited it is finally her turn to be a recipient.

"I've actually known all along that it was going to be in 2013, but when they finally told me it is your turn to come and build, we were jumping for joy," she said. "It's been a long road, and it's just nice to see it finally getting done. We are excited to start our new lives over here."

The Habitat for Humanity volunteers are hoping to complete Beneventi's home by Thanksgiving.
