PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Police are investigating a crash that caused a diesel fuel leak.

Shortly before noon Monday a car turning from Giles Lane onto N. Knoxville Avenue hit a semi traveling northbound on Knoxville.

The car hit one of the semi's diesel tanks causing a leak. Peoria Police, fire and hazmat crews responded.

Authorities believe about 75 gallons of fuel leaked onto the road and another 25 to 30 gallons went into a sewage drain.

"It's going to dilute in the water itself so it won't be a flammable problem, most of the problem is probably going to be a smell," said Peoria Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Morgan.

Police said neither driver was injured.
