The heart of Illinois fair started some of its annual competitions on Saturday.
The animal competitions don't just feature livestock, the dog show gave pet lovers a chance to show off their perfected pooches.
Dogs competed in groups with similar breeds and the winner moved on to compete in ‘Best of show,’ which is the best dog out of all the competitors.
Owners competing came from all over the United States.
Judge Richard Klatt says the dogs must be up to a certain standard. Klatt said, "Every breed of dog has a standard that's written that is in writing of what the perfect dog of that breed should look like. That's what the judges are required to memorize and that's what we look at compared to what the perfect one should be."
