HENRY COUNTY, Ill. -- Authorities in Henry County are teaming up with the Illinois State Police to create an independent task force that will focus on major felony investigations.

Five agencies, including the Henry County Sheriff's Department, Geneseo, Colona, and Kewanee Police Departments, and the Illinois State Police, make up the task force.

The 13 member investigation team will conduct comprehensive, criminal investigations involving shootings, in-custody deaths, and major felony crimes within the county.

State Police Master Sergeant Chris Endress will serve as the Task Force Commander.

The task force was created in response to the success of the neighboring Rock Island County Task Force, established in 2008.
