Hit-And-Run Doubles as Shooting

A Peoria man told authorities he just wanted to get out of the area after falling victim to a hit-and-run.

Police say Keon Roe was turning onto N. North Street when a white 1984 Buick Electra struck his car.

Roe, as well as several other witnesses, mentioned the driver and a possible passenger fled on foot after the incident.

That's when Roe says he heard gun fire.

Roe was unable to tell authorities if there was another car involved or if he saw the shooter.

Police discovered a bullet inside the abandoned vehicle, whose doors had been left open and headlights still activated in the 1000 block of Flora.

Another witness told police they believed the fleeing driver was carrying drugs.
