PEORIA, Ill -- One man is in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene following the accident.
Police officials say a 53-year-old white male was crossing the street when a vehicle turning onto Kumpf struck him and continued driving away.
The vehicle is described as a silver, gray Hyundai.
The victim was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with a broken vertebrae in his neck, a broken rib, and a head injury.
Officials say he is in stable condition.
