PEORIA Ill -- The Peoria Fire Department is investigating a fire that caused thousands of dollars in damages at a hotel.

That fire damaged an entire floor at Four Points by Sheraton in downtown Peoria.

Authorities said the blaze started in a roll-away bed mattress in a ninth floor storage room.

When crews arrived at the scene around 10 pm Friday, the hallway was filled with smoke, but the sprinkler system had put out the fire.

Guests had to temporarily evacuate the building, and no injuries were reported.

Damages are estimated at $50,000, with extensive water damage to the entire floor.

Authorities are investigating the incident as an aggravated arson.

There are no suspects at this time.
