PEORIA, Ill. -- Twenty-five firefighters were called to 1029 E. Behrends just after midnight Thursday morning.
Upon arrival, the flames could be seen through the side window. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in the living room and dining room area.
Peoria Fire Investigator Brad Pierson determined the fire was caused by arson, as several points of origin with a bottle of lighter fluid was discovered.
"We did find a charcoal lighter fluid bottle on the first floor. We have taken that as evidence," said Pierson. "We'll process that through the normal chain to look for anything that would be useful for us to find the person that caused the damage here."
The vacant home sustained $15,000 in damage.
