EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The East Peoria Chamber of Commerce has named Illinois Central College as its 2014 Green Company of the Year.
Each year the chamber awards a business member who shows efforts to “go-green” in its designing, selling or funding of eco-friendly products and services.
ICC was one of the first colleges in the state to pass a sustainability policy in 2009 and has developed three green-designed buildings.
One of those buildings, the ICC CougarPlex, received LEED certification last year.
In addition, the college has included sustainability topics in its curriculum since the 1980’s and began a recycling program in 1993.
