EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Illinois Central College announced Wednesday that their nursing program has received a grant of $40,000.
The funds are coming from the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
ICC says that their grant is designed to provide financial assistance to make improvements aimed at increasing student retention and improving licensure examination pass rates.
ICC Dean of Health Careers Wendee Guth says that they intend to use the funds to enhance teaching and assessment methods in its associate degree nursing program and to boost pass rates of the NCLEX-RN state licensure exam to 100 percent.
Guth says ICC is piloting a Test Plan, in which the college conducts a full review of current curriculum and core test questions to better align classroom coursework more closely with the state exam.
